Lorax Community Project
The Lorax Community aims to build conscious, self-sustainable communities and community ethics in order to share resources, knowledge, and experiences which promote healthy and peaceful living based on a profound, harmonious spiritual connection with the environment.
It is our belief that a shift from corporate mass-consumerism (including pre-packaged foods and other manufactured items) to a more sustainable way of living is absolutely necessary and also the best method of adaptation and resolution to so many of the environmental and social issues all beings have been facing in the modern world. This issue has been developing rapidly post WWII when corporations began to expand and factory farming became the norm. Nowadays it seems that most everyone in modern society has become dependent upon a fragile, seemingly unsustainable corporate system. Lorax Community has been established as a means to share alternative methods leading toward a more self-sustainable way of living. We also aim to bridge the seemingly expansive divide between the ever-increasing vegan community and already existing groups currently engaged in methods of permaculture (and other methods of environmentally-friendly practices for sustainable living) which may not correspond with a philosophy of non-interference (or non-harm).
In short: This project is open to everyone, though it is specifically geared toward creating a viable alternative for those who are interested in self-sustainable living methods (such as permaculture) but would prefer to avoid traditional means which often incorporate domestication of other species (chickens, goats, sheep, etc) into the equation. It is also meant to serve as an alternative for those who currently exercise such methods into their everyday lives, but would prefer (or at least be open to the idea of) doing so without having to adhere to the set standard which includes use (and potential exploitation) of non-human animals.
Please be sure to take a moment to review our long-term goals and objectives by visiting the Aims portion of our website, which describes such in greater detail.
